New fuel pump. Can floats be adjusted from outside, rather than taking the top off the carbie?

It could be either. First, cheap and easy, replace filter/filters (as stated, on some carbs, there is an additional little filter element in the housing of the carb where the fuel line connects). Next comes the float postion setting and the only way I know is to remove/disassemble the carb.

Check for a fuel filter at or in the carburetor itself.
If that doesn't fix it, I suspect a float level problem.

When you head uphill the gas all moves to the back and you literally run out of gas AT the carburetor.

All of the carbs I have worked on require removal of the top so if you have to go in there, get a new gasket first....

My guess.....filter.
Don't forget the one in the carb. where the fuel line hooks up.
You'll need a 7\16" or 1\2" line wrench, and a 1 inch socket.
