Not as you mean but there is a civil war ongoing at the moment which is based on intellectual ideals. Its mostly down to religion of course and there is a war going on to try and convince us that certain religious ideals are best.
I know many are narrow minded and make no allowances for others so if they get in power, there will be civil strife but not war. I live in an area where there is a large asian community and those that I know tell me there are fanatics working to bend the minds of the young and the government is doing nothing about it. They are worried about trying to face these people as they don't thing they will get support from the police and believe in non violence themselves.

The US has a major election every 4 years, hence the chances of change and renewal are frequent in comparision to the UK where issues are voiced on a less vocal level, hence in the UK there may be more divisions then are realised. The severity of any economic downturn coupled with political changes may ignite problems its hard to tell if civil war would occur.

America has never had a FIRST civil war YET. The Constitution guaranteed that each state had the RIGHT TO SECEED, as seceral did just that. Honest Abe's war was unconscionable and another holocaust.

And the UK? in a civil war?? preposterous!

"Violence in the name of peace is almost as good as peace in the name of violence."

Well no one can predict the future. However it would be possible if two sides of a country were divided enough on issues that they were willing to take arms and fight for them. I certainly don't see that as occurring any time soon though. However the US is being sharply divided in political ideas. Liberals to the north and conservatives to the south. So if this country lost its mind in the distant future it would be possible relying on the modern trends of liberal/conservative separations.

The UK won't; no-one cares enough about anything to start that kind of nonsense & the EU will run all those countries soon anyway.

The USA is a large country which has areas that are poles apart...I doubt they would but you could never be 100% sure.

Both countries have far too much control over their masses these days.

Imagine a fight breaking out in this country, before too many got involved, or had a chance to organise anything, the powers that be would have already stamped it out.

It would be very interesting if the USA disintegrated as the USSR did. Groups of states or large single states declaring independence.
