Perhaps its because the republicans have made the presidency above the law,, trhown out the bill of rights, trampled upon the principals that this nation was founded upon, sold intigerty for oil and pharmatical monies, abandoned the ideals of freedom, and got us into a war, not against the peole who allegedly attacked us on 9/11 ( Saudi Arabians) but with a country who's oil we wnated and whos leadership we wanted to replace.

You're a really sh!tty troll, but I'll answer your question anyway. The truth is that liberals didn't win the election, the balance of the seats and races won were by conservative democrats. The Democrats have got smart. You think a Nancy Pelosi would have had a chance of winning the governorship of Colorado ? Or Pennsyvania ? Or the Senate race in Florida ?Those were all moderates who won (some of them-gasp-pro-life).
So it was a combination of the GOP screwing up by becoming fat with powerlike the Democrats had happen in the '90's) combined with the Democrats getting smart and moving to the right. And then you have the 6th year of a president's term which is almost always bad for the incumbent party.

The GOP out of touch with America, no. It's America who is out of touch with our leadership. He is taking us into the promised land. Cutting taxes so we all have more money. Listening to our conversations and passing the patriot act so we are all safer. Educating our children with the no child left behind act. Spending oodles and gobs on the military so we can fight those terrorists over there instead of here. This president and this congress has done more to make America safer and smarter than ever before. Why some people do not appreciate this...who knows?

The Taliban has been running a propaganda war in America since 1998 and there are some Americans that latch on to the loony ideas and this causes them to vote pro-Taliban liberal. Who do you think started the candle/peace marches for the Taliban.

I became a republican after Bush was elected. I am special. I also grew up. I also belive that the dems are brainwashing people because they believe that common folk cannot think for themselves. Funny, but they may be half correct. Since turning Pub, I feel liberated and more knowledgable, not to mention RIGHT. Of course, I had the pleasure of not being educated in the public school system.

You nailed it there...I thing the repubs are losing touch with the changes that are taking in place in the U.S. If they could find a charismatic candidate (think Clinton and campaigning on MTV -- not the Monica crap), i think it would change the face of the party. It seems like they only reach out to the older generation...

I didn't think so until Nov. 7th! Maybe we should give em a listen and give em a chance. I hate to say that but we really dont have a choice now. Let's just call it "give the Dems a chance to screw it up" period. Then the republicans can come back in a couple years and fix it again.

If I have lost touch with America, it is because I work with the most marginalized of our society. I get my hands dirty every day defending the down-trodden for their poor choices.
Most of my pro bono clients and court appointed clients are on welfare. They are expecting the government to fix every woe for them. They blame the government for putting them in jail.
Rarely will they accept responsibility for their choices and take steps to improve their lot. Rarely, but sometimes they do, which is what motivates me to keep trying.
The government never fixed one person. People that think the government should do that are out of touch with reality.

Republicans have become associated with Jesus Freaks and corporate interests. Democrats will be portrayed as soldier-hating, naive liberals.
It is the game. We need progressive thinking and less image tweaking politics. The real issues are not about parties.
