I read that many obese people were sexually assaulted or were a victim of incest and as a result became obese as a protective measure. Would you agree with that statement?

Yes. There are lots of reasons for obesity but that's one.

I think I would rephrase your claim: Many sexually assualted people and victims of incests become obese as a protective measure (your warning makes it sound like most obese people were victims of assualt/incest) I think that sounds like a fair statement

I could see how that could psychologically factor into protecting themselves, but I do not completely agree. Has there been any proof about this? It could also account for low self esteem and depression and eating for comfort which leads to obesity. It could also be to almost force themselves to be unattractive to keep people at a distance, or to not draw attention to themselves to keep themselves from being targeted again. My personal opinion though is that it is more of over-eating from the depression and comfort they feel and low self esteem they have because of the incident, not necessarily as a protective measure or something that has conciously been chosen, but rather the result of what happened. There is a big difference.

i don't see a big connection between obesity & sexual assualt or being a victim of incestation. Must be only very few cases like that.
Obesity is probably mainly caused by health factors or simply eating too lot.

absolutely, becoming undesirable is a form of protection. Some people isolate as protection, others become offenders, as in the best defense is a strong offense.

thas one of the reason but i think it's a minorty. if so there must be alot of ppl who were sexually assaulted. Food is a distraction as well as cigerettes are. but i think its about the habits and self control we all have.

That can occur in some instances.

I believe Delta Burke is one who mentioned that as a reason. Don't hold to it as actually being her, but it was a movie starlet.....
