My sister was screaming, yelling and she had major moodswings. I assume she got a PMS. Do women bleed when they get one? I've never seen that way before.

Nope. Women usually start bleeding a week to a few days after they get PMS. PMS stands for pre-menstrual syndrome. That means before menstration occurs. Typically, a woman who suffers from PMS will feel better a day or two after her period (menstration) begins.

Your sister screaming and yelling and having mood swings is probably partially due to PMS and mostly due to other things going on in her life (like an annoying sibling perhaps?) and the hormonal fluctuations of being a teenager. If her mood swings are severe, you should talk to your mother about your sister seeing a doctor. Things like "the pill" (hormonal contraceptives) can help with the hormonal imbalances that cause PMS. PMS that causes such problems is NOT normal and NOT something that she should simply have to deal with as part of being a woman.

That being said, many teenage girls use their period as an excuse to be a b*tch and are not sufferers of PMS, but sufferers of societies misconceptions and expectations about menstration. They may not even know they are faking it.

No. Females bleed when mentruating (a.k.a. "period"). Pre-Menstrual Syndrome is (technically speaking) completely separate from menstruation--although they tend to coincide.
