The same people who are demanding for the come back of Saurav Ganguly will demand to sack him if he does not perform well. Hence it is better to assess his form in the domestic matches before selecting him to the Indian Team as humiliation of getting dropped due to poor performance can be avoided.

Yes, we can have atleast one hope.
Becoz the player who is keen to back in the team, will surely perform better than players just giving excuses.
IF BCCI reads then this is my request to pick him as a middle-order batsman atleast in absence of Yuvraj, rather than giving chances to non-talented players like Raina.
If Ganguly will be played in middle-order then he will be able to give accelation to scoring rate.
Other fact is that best opening pair of indian team in all time cricket was only "Sachin and Gangly". They had many parternships of more than 100 runs.
