The show hasn't been canceled. The comic strip was canceled from being published from newspapers, because the creator is going on a hiatus.
As for the TV series, the 2nd season will premiere on Adult Swim in March 2007.
Animation for a series takes a while to do, you know. Don't worry, they're coming back! =D

I didn't know it was cancelled--- haven't had a chance to grab the paper in a few days. Maybe the mixed marriage story was making some white folks mad?
I hope it isn't cancelled though, I like it.
