The Beatles by far. They were the poets of their generation, the yard-stick by which all other groups were judged. They actually changed contemporary culture - even the recording industry itself.

The Stones are of course a great act, but the Beatles were the ones who changed the world.

Without the Beatles, there may not have been the Stones anyway. It was George Harrison who got the Stones together with their manager, and Lennon and McCartney gave the Stones their first few songs.

The Beatles are better, but the Rolling Stones are still great.

Well, that's tough. I grew up w/both those groups and saw the Beatles twice as a teenager in SF.

But I have been to 3 Rolling Stones concerts as an adult, and they put on an amazing show!

I still love them both. They are different. Hard to compare.

The Rolling Stones, as much as I really don't care for them, The Beatles are much much worse.

The Beatles were definitely better musically, everything they did from Rubber Soul on just sounds perfect.
The Stones always had more raw emotion to their music, though.
It's a matter of taste, really. When I was younger, I preferred the
Stones by a mile. Now, it's really close and would depend on my mood.

Rolling Stones.
As much as I love the Beatles I still can't get over how silly the lyrics to some of their earlier songs were.
The Rolling Stones, just for "Sympathy For the Devil" alone win this one hands tied behind their back.
