AWWYYY SAAAYY THERE.

The real world is it now?

Such an unusual question!

We KRAZZEE yanks had to think of a name for a totally now game that WE invented over here in the UNREEAL world, so we thought about it for a very long time. At least five seconds and chose FOOTBALL because the game starts by putting the ball in motion with a kick from the FOOT!

There now, I hope that bloody well clears up that matter.

Cheerio old chap....

You in the "real" world are playing soccer. Soccer is big in the U.S. for children mostly. None of us can really explain why soccer fizzles out here. Football, baseball, basketball, and hockey are the games that make us cheer. No offense to all of you out in the "real" world...

P.S. To Frankovic... I don't know where you're from, but I feel sorry for you. I really do.

It is called football because at one time your football and our football were the same thing. Rutgers vs. Princeton. But over time the game has changed to what it is today. It is analogous to the relationship between black blues music and Rock and Roll. The first gave birth to the second.

Its just what they call the ball...just like soccer..you use a soccer ball...basketball you use a basketball...baseball you use a baseball (and bat)..its not about the feet its about the ball...but in early football all it was was running the football...and then they had the forward pass.

Because it was derived from what became codified as Rugby football. It's redundant to refer to it as "American" football when it's taking place in America-just as they refer to "Australian rules football" as just "footy" in Australia. When you include Gaelic and Canadian football, there are six codes of football.

the yanks call our game "soccer" and theirs is football they do kick the ball now and again.........different countries different outlooks...american football is a technical game but it takes way too long to complete cant imagine brittish supporters putting up with it.....they did try the european version and it wasnt popular in our country.........why do they call it football.i dont know........why do the aussies call theirs aussie rules football........gonig by that criteria americans should call theirs american rules football but with the yanks they will tell you we copied them because you know how the yanks think....everythig with them is bigger better brighter etc. they enjoy their game we enjoy ours so asking why they call theirs football is a bit of a waste of time you know its never going to change
