Being a Venezuelan, and living here, i say agreeing with Chavez for any good reason, is usually a sign of rampant ignorance. I read the first chapter of jonny's answer and agree. Not only the worst president i have ever seen in my 22 years of life, but among his followers, he has planted a seed of hate and racism, against everybody. In his government, Talking about anything bad of this government has been made a crime, officially. Also people need permission from the government to protest, and several types of protest have been prohibited. people cant travel with more than 4000us$, its a crime. People cant have dollars. Its a crime. The have the obligation to sell it to the government. people have a really hard time to get passports. Murderers (some caught on video), walk free as long as they show their loyalty to Chavez. The Bolivar is devalued by the government to decrease salaries (increasing inflation to the roof), just to give the impression that he´s giving more money (in Bolivares) to the people. nearly 60 people are killed in Caracas every week. nearly 100000 since Chavez got here. kidnaps have risen over 400%.

IN VENEZUELA, YOU COULD BE PHYSICALLY ASSAULTED OR EVEN KILLED IF YOU WEAR AN ANTI-CHAVEZ TSHIRT IN PUBLIC.

SO ENJOY THE FREEDOM YOU HAVE TO WEAR ANY TSHIRT YOU WANT, AND STOP GIVING A **** ABOUT BEING "VERBALLY ASSAULTED"

Hi there, i am from Venezuela and have lived in the us. Things here are very nasty right now. Presidential elections are on the 3rd of Dec and most of the people are against Chavez. He has been the worst president so far. When he came into power 8 years ago, he was talking about how he was going to edn with corruption and how he was going to help the poor by giving them education and a good health care system. He has failed miserably on both and in other things. When he got into power, oil was around $12 a barrel. The Bolivar (our currency) was at around 500 for 1 dollar. Right now oil prices are around 40 or 50 dollars i believe and the Bolivar is at 2900 for one dollar and in the black market at around 3300. So how come we are getting more money now and our currency suffered a major devaluation. How come poverty, crime rate, inflation and unemplpoyment are higher right now? These are only a few things regarding the economics of his government.

When i lived in nyc, i used to see people wearing shirts of El Che. I asked most people if they kknew who he was. Sadly the most common answer i got was NO. So what i ask of people is to find out about who pople like El Che and Chavez are before wearing one of their tshirts.

It is very easy to live in the US and support or like somoen like Chavez or El Che because you never had to live and fight against their crazy ideals. You were born with a lot of freedoms that most people in other countries dont' enjoy. The freedom is usually taken for granted. Rememebr something, we never know what we have until we loose it.

Both claimed that they were fighting for the people. However, i do not see how they helped the pople in any way. It is true that more schools have been built here. The problem is that they dont work. Right now we have a deal with cuba in which we trade oil for cuban doctors. These doctors are attending the some of the poor people here. The problem here is that in order for you to become a doctro in cuba you only need to study about 3 to 4 years. Here to becoe a doctor, you need to study around 9 years.

Hope this is helpful. If you have any questions email me.

When Venezuelans wear George Bush T-shirts all the other Venezuelans just laugh. I guess Bush is funnier than Chavez. :)

Chavez is anti-American. But according to Republicans, so are 150 million Democrats, so he's in good company.

Chavez provided a great deal of help to Fidel Castro after the Soviet collapse. Personaly, I see him as a politician who opposes the USA to be a rabble rouser and garner support from the well to do socialists and communists of his country. I feel you have a right with free expression to wear that shirt. However you should realize that they have a right to freedom of speech despite your communist inclinations. He called Bush the devil, but he is no angel either. He is a brutal man, while you consider free speech important, his laws have people arrested for it.
