The GRE (Graduate Record Exam) is a standardized test much like the SAT. You needed the SAT (or ACT) scores for college, now you might be considering a graduate program that requires this exam. It is structured very much like the SAT with a verbal, math, and writing section. When I took it, I remember being told that the math was easier than SAT math, but that the verbal was more difficult. I don't know if this is still true;

I believe anyone is eligible to take it, but before you shell out a good chunk of change to take it, find out if you actually need to take it. Talk to your professors, advisors, and read the literature for graduate programs you are interested in. Also visit the ETS (Educational Testing Services) Website at www.ets.org, you can also type in www.gre.org.

If you are a glutton for punishment and just want to take it for fun, then by all means don't let me stop you.
