Check out the pricing on Macbooks. They're the Intel replacements for the iBooks and they're much more powerful, with Core 2 Duo processors and more RAM, hard disk space and other features. They can even run Windows natively if you need that.

If the iBook price is anywhere near the price of a Macbook, get the Macbook.

There's nothing wrong with it other then not being the "latest and greatest" so to speak. Currently there is 10.4 out with 10.5 to be released sometime in the near future, but unlike with Windows it's very easy to upgrade from one to the other. The more important question is do you want to spend money on an older Apple with them now making the switch to Intel processors. In the near future software beyond the operating system will start to be made for Intel Macs and the support for PowerPC Macs will start to fade.

Not sure if this is a laptop you plan to use for a long time or what you plan to do with it, but that's my $.02
