niether, it's a book series on it's own, i think you are confusing eragon with aragorn aka strider

No. It is based on the novel Eragon by Christopher Paolini published in 2002( good read). It has many commom fantasy elements. It draws heavily from the works of Tolkien , u know, the whole el, dwarf, dragon thing. Its sequel is Eldest. THey are good books, and I look forward to seeing the film.
