That's to broad of a question to answer. You need to narrow down the choices a little bit. What's your current bra size, and what kind of activity will you be doing?
Sports bras are rated according to the level of physical activity you are going to be doing. The lowest level is for somebody that is say, power walking, or maybe beginner yoga. At the other end it for gymnastics, racket ball, or jogging. You need to select a bra that is designed for your activity level.
Next is your size, if you have larger breasts, like a C or above, or if your breasts are sensitive to jiggle than you may want a higher activity level so that you have less bounce.
Either way, a good sports bra is worth it's weight in gold, so don't expect a 5.99 wal-mart special to provide you with the comfort and control you need. Look for a top-line champion, nike or enell bra. You will pay a lot more for these, but the price is worth the comfort.
So many women give up an activity as being to stressful, competitive, or difficult, when the only real problem is a poorly performing sports bra. Everything will be more difficult if your breasts are not properly supported!!!

Comfort mainly. Some people prefer the wire sports bra however I prefer the ones that don't have wires. I like racer back sports bras and my favorite is the Underarmour Duplicity Sports bra. Color is your own personal preference. i always prefer the darker colors to draw less attention. Make sure your bra doesn't press on your skin too tight or you will feel uncomfortable while you work out.

This question doesn't relate to the TWO things one would hope to look for in a sports bra? ;)
The style that the lady soccer player was wearing when she ripped off her shirt a few years ago -- that would seem the way to go. At any rate, it looked pretty dog-goned good.

Ummmm...the things I'd be looking for if I was looking in a sports bra would be breasts.
Oh........sorry........I didn't read the next line. But it might fit the "personal experiences" part!
Sorry, had a really Y-chromosome moment there!
