A wanna be is someone that wants to be like something. For Example A wanna be rapper is sombody that wants to be a rapper but cant be.

A "wanna be" in its literal meaning is one who wants or strives to be that certain person with no redeeming potential to become.one. Foremost that comes to mind, is Paris Hilton. She is popular for the wrong reasons. She got no artistic talent. She looks and sounds like a dumb blond. She's certainly a wanna be as she's not a bonafide celebrity. with true merits.

a wanna-be is a slang word for a person who is uncomfortable in the skin they are in and the person that they are... the reasons may vary, but are usually due to poor self esteem. for instance: a person who is out of shape or thinks they are, may take up running and aerobics and people may think of that person as a "wanna-be" athlete.
