There is a balance of bacteria (good bacteria) and yeast down there, and if you kill the bacteria then the yeast get out of control and you can get a yeast infection. In fact, it is recommended that you only use water to clean yourself, anything else like soap or cleansers is too strong for such a delicate area. Also, you really should not douche, because the vagina is very efficient at cleaning itself and douches can throw off the balance.

Never douche. I can't believe that stuff still sells. It's horrible for your body. Use something soft and non-fragranced. As long as cetaphil works well on soft skin (sample for a few days on the back of your hands or inside your elbow) and is not fragranced, you should be fine. A simple soap rinse is all that you need down there to keep fresh and clean in the shower. I also highly recommend cotton panties. You need to be able to "breathe" to keep fresh. If you look hard enough, there are cute ones out there. When washing, make sure that you do not wash the front side and back side together as germs from the back can infect the front.

No don't use that for intimate cleansing because it will cause a major vaginal irritation. I suggest you use a vinegar and water douche for intimate cleansing because it's PH balanced for a woman's chemistry. Try Summer's Eve or Massengil for an appropriate douche, but don't douche too much because you will wash away your vagina's natural way of cleansing itself. Women who have a lot of sexual partners will douche a lot and that's setting themselves up for more infections.
