The hardest hitting tackler in college and pro football history was Jack Tatum....period!!! Jack Tatum was an Ohio State Buckeye, then an Oakland Raider. He was the hardest hitting tackler. Even though he paralyzed that New England Patriot wide receiver, the injured player never blamed Jack for the hit...that's the danger of playing football.

If your dog is a female, call her Jackie, feminine form of Jack.

Or just call it Tatum, or Tatums.

Since Butkus is Rocky's dog in the movies, how about Nitschke (Nit or Nit Wit for short), for Ray Nitschke of the 60's Green Bay Packers...Nitschke was sort of a Neanderthal in the Butkus mold. They are often compared to each other as the best linebacker ever. Also, Nitschke was in the original Longest Yard movie with Burt Reynolds, Eddie Albert, etc....very funny movie!!! You might be able to find a funny name in that movie. Actually Nitschke's character has a funny name in that movie...Bogdanski...If you like, the link is below...

Jack Lambert of the famed steel curtain. Pound for pound one of the meanest, hardest-hitting and best tackler in NFL history. You could call the dog 'Jack.'

Why not Reggie? It is a boy and girls name. After Reggie White (Packers and Eagles) would tackle a guy, he always had a smile and many times helped the guy back up.

Good Luck!
