My poor wife suffers each time we are with my family over Christmas. My family always tunes into TNT (or TBS?) for the Christmas Story marathon. We know it by heart! And it wouldn't be Christmas without it. You're right. The movie is our generation's "It's a Wonderful Life."

If you're a reader, pick up Jean Shepherd's "In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash." Shepherd's book is a short story collection containing all of the stories from "A Christmas Story." They are as delightful on the page as they are on the screen. Shepherd loved the movie so much, it's his voice that narrates it (he also appeared in the movie as the guy at the department store who tells Ralphie that "the line ends here! It starts back there!") It's impossible to read the book without hearing him.

That movie is great and right up there with 'Its a Wonderful Life' because it told a quirky reality to Christmas. I love it.
Did you see on Yahoo! News that a guy bought the house that Ralphie lived in from the movie, its in Ohio, he got it for $150,000 off of Ebay and bought the house across the street for museums. His dad even makes leg lamps and has sold them for several years. Its proof that this movie is a classic.Check out the sites below.

I am going to watch it at least 5 times, both on TV and on DVD.

That, and the only other Christmas movie I like, which is the ORIGINAL Miracle on 34th. Not the remake from like 96 or whatever, the first one, with Natalie Wood.

In the 24 hour marathon I wish they would alternate back-to-back screenings of "A Christmas Story", "It's A Wonderful Life" and "Miracle on 34th Street". Let's get the popcorn popped and the eggnog nogged !

I'm 22 and I remember it. I watch it every year when TBS plays 24 hours of it. It's the best Christmas movie, I could recite it word for word, and I probably do while I'm watching it.

Have you seen the new cell phone commerical they have mocking it? "You'll run the bill up" Haha, it's funny.
