My kitty & I talk about how the day went every night when I come home from work. My cat is a known yacker and lots of people in my neighbourhood chat with her when I'm not home. She has this distintive "youw" sound and people respond, first with a similar sound, then they usually move on to English. She understands and will sit and talk to you as long as you want to sit and talk to her. When I get home she tells me all the gossip in the neighbourhood.

Oh, you bet! Every single day. I have two cats (furry little children really). They follow me all over the house constantly (the love of a pet is the BEST). I talk to them as I'm doing things and they love it! I figure they understand maybe every 100th word. I speak my language to them. I'm a little rusty with feline verbs and adjectives. I talk to them about anything that comes to my mind. I'll even sing to them sometimes, and they really love that. They would be the only creatures on the face of the earth who enjoy my singing though.
Seriously, I think they just LOVE the attention and it's the tone of my voice that they are responding to. I love talking to them. The answers I get are always exactly what I want to hear too....go figure.

I talk with my dog all the time because I think that the more you share with your pet the more easily you can bond with the pet. My dog lady is very nosy. She always wants attention. So, I just talk to her and it seems as if she's really listening. That's because she is, lady may be a dog but I'm sure even without it meaning any thing to her I'm sure that when I talk to her she is very happy for somebody to pay attention to her. Be sure to always love your pet to.

Of course I had many conversations with my pet dog, in my own language and he tried very hard to communicate back. In fact at times he came to me and sat in front of me and tried to talk but of course wasn't able to make himself understood but really did try hard. It was quite amazing.

It sounds dumb; but yes all the time. Your pet is your best friend; just because they cant talk back to you doesnt mean that they dont know your moods; the best part of talking to your pet is that they keep all your secrets & love you no matter what :]

We talk to the pets all the time. This means that we are showing love toour animals by talking to them. It does not mean that we are crazy. Animals respond to the sound of your voice.

Omg yes. My horse and I talk a lot. I'm not sure if he understands me. He seems to. I tell him everything thats going on in my life, and he makes a noise, varying from a whinny to a snort, depending on the news I give. He loves to rub his head on my shoulder while he listens, and he really does listen. He doesnt watch things going on outside his stall, or listen to them, he focuses on me. I know i sound like a lunatic, telling you how I converse with my horse, but maybe I'm just weird like that. Chou!

I don't have conversations with my pets, but since I have three dogs and three cats I talk to them and they do listen, they are all really well behaved and get along.

Okay, I know I am a dork, but yes I talk to my dog all the time. She pretends to listen which is all I can ask for. I speak in my language, she just stares at me. It works for us.

Absolutely! But they are short conversations.
I will ask, ""Do you want some catnip?" My two cats will meow with great insistence until I give it to them!
"Do you want to go out?" They will vociferously run to the door!
One will come inside after being out in the rain, run into the bathroom and meow until I pull out a towel and dry her. This one will even sit on the chair while I am in the shower and insist on being dried when I come out, even though she is not at all wet! The other will join in while I am on the phone.
I speak to them in my language, they speak in theirs.
