Trademarks are priced on how many different classes you want to register under.
I filed a trademark approximatley 6 months ago and I believe the cost was $250 - $275 for 1 class.
If you want to file Internationally it would most likely be about $100 more expensive per class.

The cost is only minimal because it is only a regular registration of the trademark with the government agency.

alot of money, you'd have to get a patent depending on what you wanted to market, patents range from $500.00 on up.
