No. Most of us who took the UOP courses have opted for it since it is the easiest way to "attend" for someone long out of school and with a family. I live near Stanford and work with several people out of Berkeley and USF, my brother-in-law is a professor at San Jose State. Though everyone is congratulatory over my receiving the degree, there is no way it carries the same mettle.

It truly is a diploma mill. I bought my MBA from UOP and it is worthless. No recruiters take it seriously unless it is for a very low level position. The coursework was easy, everyone I know slapped their papers together an hour before class and got A's.
The MBA program is not accredited! The school is regionally accredited, but that means little. Program accreditation is the important one and UOP's MBA program will never come close!
There are lots of websites like UOPSucks.com and Epinions and RipOffReport that have reviews. Reviews are all over the place, and I laugh when I see someone say that the program was hard... because I know the truth first hand. Writing a simple 3 page paper and doing a Powerpoint presentation every week is NOT a challenge!

Although I did not attend the University of Phoenix, I am familiar with them. The institution, although accredited, is a "diploma mill"--and is not a well respected academic institution. If you have your heart set on them--go ahead. they are required to provide you with reasonable accommodations. But you won't be getting your money's worth. There are several reasons for this. First, they lack the facitlities of a full university--they (and you) must dependd on other institutions even for basics like libraries. You will not "get your degree faster"--that is advertising hype--and outright misrepresentation. The reality is that you will have to take the same number of courses. At a full university, you can do this just as fast--if you can handkle the workload. But if you need more time and a lighter workload, you have that option. Finally, if you want a good special education prograam, there are several universities in California that offer better ones--and the public universities are among the best in this field in the USA--and they cost far less. They also have internship programs and professional contacts that will help you to get a job when the time comes that the University of Phoenix does not have. I'm sorry to be so negative--but the reality is that this is simply a for-profit school--and not a very good one.

No it doesn't. Degrees from those places are just pieces of paper. If I were you, however, I would get a government job. They only care about the accreditation and the degree. Simply having an MBA from anywhere entitles you to a certain pay grade (if you get the job of course.)
In the business world though, the prestige of the university is VERY important. People looking to hire an MBA aren't going to take a Phoenix Online degree seriously at all.
Sorry to bring bad news, but it's the truth.

Although UoP is an "Accredited" university, they are not accredited by the same board that does most of the schools in my area. As a result, most schools will recognize a degree if you are applying to grad school, but will not transfer credits. I think the biggest knock is that they don't have as much "in class" time required as you would get from another school. So that, coupled with the lower admission standards would make me say that it doesn't carry as much weight as a degree from a traditional university.

No, not at all. I work with a girl who got her MBA from UofP. She must of sent out 75 resumes and never got an interview. Sad, after all that work. That was 3 years ago and it got her nowhere.

I hope that it does because I am going there. I have heard nothing but good reviews and every I know has wonderful jobs but I guess some people will judge the school as being easy.
