Which would you say is more beneficial to the world??

Question

Being a famous person such as a singer/actress/model, or being a doctor? I mean, being a doctor you can save peoples lives, but by being famous and having all that wealth you can really influence millions of people positivly and help out with charitys and bring attention to global issues. Would really like an opinion?

Well both doctor and celebrities can be beneficial and non-beneficial. It all depends how they go about it. They also have different and similar ways of helping people.
A doctor can medically save someones life. A celebrity can save a life by helping pay for treatment or even get the word out about new ways of curing that should be explored. Such as Michael J Fox. A doctor can go to different countries and help those with no medical treatment. Celebrities can donate for different things including medical care in other countries.
I think the only major difference is that most doctors are never known or heard. Where as celebrities do and media plays a big role in swaying opintions.

I am going to swim against the tide here but I think a celebrity has more effect because a celebrity reaches more people...

I doubt very seriously you know my doctor (or ever will) no matter how brilliant I think he is...

Also, people pay to see a movie more often than people pay to see a doctor. Movies make millions in their opening week and each of the actors does too! Not to mention directors, producers, etc...

If I went to a movie that starred only doctors - I would call it a lecture and certainly not be willing to pay for it (after college was over anyway)...

Doctors are smarter and better educated as a whole but celebrities have exposure and can better "get the word out" - even if the words come from the doctors!

You know, no richest in the world can make you more beneficial in the world. You can be the poorest person in the world, but if you treat people with kindness and help them even to cross the street, you are doing a good deed. Those are the things that God looks at. Giving money, just for the sake of saying see here, I have money to give will not make you a good person. But helping someone with a talk when they are lonely, with a smile, that is the most benefit you can offer the world.

I think being a doctor would be best as yuo say doctors can save lives. They are also very wealthy or they ar not good doctors.
Actresses, singers, and actors are not known to help anyone out contrary to wha tyou hear. When an actor gets up there and givs speech he.she's donating their time which is worth so much more than ours in theirs and the IRS's minds that they get ot write thousands off on their taxes.

An actor or congressman can make abig deal ouit of going to a speech and giving 20,000 and writing off half a million in his time which nets him over a 200,000 in tax payments.
Never think for one minute they give anything. Very few of them actually donate money. Just over charged time, on which they save taxes on real income.

Actually, anyone can be more beneficial to the world then either of them. There are plenty of famous people and doctors that do nothing to help humanity (watch some Court TV.) And there are plenty of people like not famous nuns living in 3rd world countries that have helped thousands.

It does not really matter to be rich & famous to help others, But definately it helps.
