I have had my fair share of colonics. I was very plugged up and the doctors told me to drink prune juice and eat lots of fiber. That didn't help at all. It does feel odd at first but the theripist that was doing it was really understanding and helpful. She charged 60 dollars a session but it was well worth it. At first I was a little scared of the equipment but after I was comfortable. When you go in ask as many questions you need they should understand. Also have them use plenty of lube. They will give you some instructions to help them with their job. If you are getting to full and feel like you are going to leak tell them and they will stop the water and open the release valve. You will also sometimes feel a little pressure and then it will feel like it released that might be the water going around a blockage wich is normal. They will fill you up and massage your stomach to break the junk up inside then release it. I have found that if you can hold more water while they massage you the more junk they can get out. Also if you have a percussion massager that you would use on your back take it with you and have them use that aswell it will save their hands and it feels alittle better than thier hands. Also ask if they have one that they use. I asked my theripist about it and the next time I went she used me as a guinea pig and it worked nicely. I gues the main thing is communication between you and them. Also you might invest in a enema bag and a good retention nozzle so you can unplug your self when you can't afford to go to the theripist. Visit WWW.Optimalhealthnetwork.com They have allot of information and equipment. Good Luck

Ayurvedic medicine offers a very similar treatment and it is usually done as part of a pancha karma program, involving a purifying diet to really get a lot of toxins out of the body.
It is good to cleanse the colon, but you can also do it internally with a colon cleansing product, or something as simple as psyllium if the colonic/enema seems invasive and budget is an issue.
Colonics feel a little weird, but under the guidance of a professional, there is no discomfort.
I don't know what the cost is as a stand alone treatment. I would check with a Naturopathic Dr. or an Ayurvedic Dr. in your area for their rates. If it has been suggested by your GP/Dr., get them to refer you somewhere you might be able to get insurance coverage for it.
Blessings,
Rani

i went for 4 days of colonhydrotherapy. the week before i was instricted to eat very little carbs and no meat. lots of salads and fresh greens. the week of the hyrotherapy i was told to just drink fresh juices and broths but because of my job ( serving) working with the public i needed to have pureed soups (more substantial) and that was ok. the sessions were great. i was a little cranky a couple of days (from fasting) and a lot of emothions can be released during the cleansing of the bowel. it cost me $300.00 for the 4 days but it was well worth it. i felt great, was more regular and even lost 10 pounds. i would recommend it to anyone and am going back in december.

Give yourself a good enema with a 5 percent solution of salt to a couple of quarts of warm water. Put it in. Hold it as long as you can. then let it go. Repeat as necessary. Careful...can become habitforming.
