If you have been checked by an optometrist or an ophthalmologist and there is no infection or any other problems present you probably have dry eye or allergies. I have severe dry eye - I've had it for 16 yrs - and have a lot of burning but no hot feeling. I would make sure it's nothing environmental also - chemicals that you come into contact with at work or around your home. Even in department store settings some people have problems because of the chemicals used on imported clothing to debug them during transport to the US. Cosmetics, skin care products (such as moisturizers), and sensitivities to soaps, etc. can cause irritation and discomfort.
If you have dry eye there are several short term remedies and a couple of long term remedies. To give immediate relief, albeit not very longlasting, use eyedrops. Natural tears, Refresh, Genteal, etc. - these will help lubricate the surface. Use them several times daily - even when your eyes don't feel dry. Whatever you do, do NOT use Visine or Murine - both will clear redness but neither are good for your eyes. Any eye doctor will tell you to avoid both. At night there are gels that can be used - since you don't blink while asleep the eye isn't able to disperse tears over the surface like it can when you are awake. A natural supplement you can take that has been getting much attention from ophthalmologists is evening primrose oil. Taken as a dietary supplement most people see relief within about 4 - 6 weeks. Start out at 500 iu's daily for the first week and then go to 1000 - 1300 iu's daily. You can find the gelcaps or the liquid form (very bitter!) at most natural foods stores or vitamin sections at Walmart, pharmacies, etc. For women be warned - this herbal supplement may cause a slight increase in weight and a large increase in libido, lol.
Another option, though not a natural one, is Restasis. This is a prescription eyedrop that, for some, can help increase natural tear production. You don't see results right away - it can take 6 months or more.
Hopefully some of these suggestions help but I would start by seeing your local ophthalmologist first.

Better go to the ophthalmologist. He is a doctor whose specialization is on the diseases of the eye. He will ask you to read from afar using the Snellens chart & the Jaegers for near vision. He will visualize your eye using the ophthalmoscope & see the arteries & vessels in it. There is also a bigger microscope, the slit lamp microscope which he will be using in investigating what is causing the burning sensation in the eyes.
The optometrist the doctor who specializes in error of refraction. He is not an expert on eye diseases.
Irritation in the eye might be due to alot of causes like conjunctivitis ( sore eyes) or foreign body or anything causing an infection.
Dont put anything on your eyes! it might further add to the injury!

Well you probably should see your doc or optometrist to rule out a more serious medical problem. If it's just dry eye, you can try these solutions:
1) visine
2) cool cloth over your eyes for a few minutes
3) the cliche yet successful cucumbers on the eyes
4) more sleep (most likely that's the main cause of the problem)
5) gently press your index finger just underneath the corner of your eye...it opens up your tear ducts and helps lubricate your eye
That's all I can think of. I hope it starts to feel better soon :)

Go to an opthamologist. Not an optician. An opthamologist is an eye specialist. The burning could be anything from an infection to an allergy.Your sight is very precious, make an appointment and get them checked. If you don't have health insurance, ask to make payment arrangements. If they say no,keep calling until you get a yes.
