Livermore is a pretty small community, where jobs will be focused in clusters.
One strategy is to focus on the few retail oriented positions, like at Stoneridge Mall or some other nearby places.
If you can get to BART or have your own car, you should probably look farther afield in places like Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon or "the Creek".
An alternative strategy is to look for support jobs (e.g. receptionist) as there are lots of professional services in that area like doctors, dentists, lawyers, accountants. Go door to dor and you might be suprised what jobs are out there that are not advertised.
A third strategy is to start your own business. Since Livermore is more of a bedroom community and not the hotbed of retail, you may have to work for yourself. For example, house cleaning, landscaping, car detailing, computer repair, concierge service, etc.).
How do I know? I grew up in that area.
