Yes it is. I've had a meter that was old, and it would stop completely in cold weather!

It is highly possible that you had something or some things using up more electricity at the old home. An electric water heater element could rupture and run electricity to ground through the water and realy make that meter spin. There are other things that could do this also and not nessesarily a whopping amount of usage but a small amount constantly throughout the month and year.

It is possible! It is a machine! made by some man! However, I would heed the warnings and sit quietly and enjoy your savings. My mother has a house about 90 years old. Maybe 15 years ago, the Electric company said her meter was faulty, because her bill was too low. They installed a new meter, and her electric usage went down. Go figure.

It is hard to say without looking at the home you moved to which is getting so much better effeciency but the meter can be rigged to cause you too use less electricity, which by the way is illegal. Your home could also be better insulated than your other home which could be saving you money. Since you are getting a better deal on your electricity I would leave it as is.

I'm wondering about insulation and btu capacity of your systems...also gas/electric ratio difference of each respective houses appliances...also hidden consumption used by others in your household besides yourself...as well most don't know that a spinning hardrive uses a moderate amount of power...you see motors consume an enormous amount of electricity compared to the brightest lightbulb...check your motors in comparison i. e. refridge, bath fan, ceiling fan etc...

first off there are no old meters...they replace them every ten years or less....second yes things can happen but would be extremely rare....third...I am guessing you were being ripped off from your first place....and assume its your present home thats the odd one..
