I am considering pretending to be sick about 2 hrs into our thanksgiving dinner and heading back to my boyfriend's house alone, so I can watch - uninterrupted - the Kansas City Chiefs turn the Denver Broncos over their knees and give em' a big, nasty whupping.
I'm already in a fight with the boyfriend because I don't have NFL network, so it's up to HIM to Tivo it, see, and he doesn't want to "waste" 3+ hours of Tivo space and points out that we'll "get to see the end of the game" and that it might "conflict with his tivoing of road rules." (today I watched sports and he stayed home and made pies, so that tells you something about the gender roles in the relationship.)
So in other words - yes, I am watching football, and the problem in my life is that the guys in my life don't always support my football watching. The other problem is the notion that pro football is a man's sport for male spectators. I know the guys in tight pants part of your question is asked in a joking fashion, but really; as a female fan, it can be hard to take the machismo hubba-hubba ethos of the sports establishment and the way sports are marketed. I listen to sports radio (mainly nonstop NFL talk on Sirius 124) and nothing turns me off more than when they stop talking about sports and start talking about the budweiser girls or those hot twins. (and how bout all those viagra and cialis ads?) I went on an NFL site once (maybe SI?) and they had a "for women" section that had "primers" on "how to understand the game." our entire gender innately doesn't understand it? hmm....let's give an example of that; sunday, I'm with my boyfriend watching football. I have to head off to work and am running around getting stuff together near the end of the 1st half of the Chiefs and the Raiders (I listened to the second half in the car.) I come into the room during halftime groaning about the score (chiefs are down.) "there's good news, though" - says the boyfriend. "Dante Hall returned a kickoff like, to the 50 yard line or something, right before the end of the half." "That's nice - did he score a touchdown on the return?" I ask? "well, no, but that's good, isn't it?" asks boyfriend. "only for Dante's stats, not for the team - it makes no difference," I explain. "But what happens at the beginning of the second half - don't you get the ball back where you left off?" he wants to know. So I have to explain to him that no, each half begins with a kickoff, and that's why if you are driving near the end of the first half it is imperative that you score or it's meaningless - you get no brownie points for "almost making a touchdown." elementary stuff, but he's not the first guy (or the last) i've met who knows vastly less about football than either myself or my female friends who are football fans as well.
I have found in my formerly single life that football knowledge can be a big guy magnet. my best story is probably being followed for 3 blocks from a bagel store in NYC by two guys who finally caught up to me and confessed they were chasing after me because they were overwhelmed and awed by a conversation I was having with a buddy over the sports pages.

I like watching football now. Years ago I didnt like it because I didnt understand it. My father is not a sports fan, so I never grew up watching it and on Thanksgiving we pretty much just watched A Christmas Story over and over.
Then my b/f now is a huuuuge football fan (da bears) we have been together for 7 years now, so 4 years ago I decided I need to just learn about the dang game otherwise I have a lifetime and boring Sundays ahead of me. Now I love football because I understand it and I looooove watching the games and occasionally betting on them.

Well i do think women should play football/soccer if their interested in it and if its a hobby they like to play, but i really dont take the women football serious,i like watching the men soccer match, more more interesting to watch, and more thrills. And wheres the problem if women goes to a football match? Theres full amount of women who supports football matches and enjoy each game including myself. Forza Women lol

Well when your in a house full of guys it leaves you kinda no choice. But I get alittle too into it i believe. I jump up,and yell, sream ,curse. My best ever is when the Stealers and Seahawks went to SuperBowel. I was sreaming run run lol and doing the actions with my arm as if i were making him go faster. I dont know that was just exciting and i have to admit i had a few budweisers. But yeah the Stealers won after all i should have got my money for the bets i made

I'll probably check in on the Cowboys game, just so I know what sort of talk to expect at work on Friday/Monday (I'm in Dallas). Aside from that I'll probably save my football-watching for next Sunday.
Go, Bears!!!!
