If you haven't had sex yet, there is still a membrane of tissue called the "hymen" that partially closes over the opening to your vagina, and this can make the opening very small and hard to get a tampon into.
Patience, and persistence is the only answer.
Try taking a tampon out of the applicator, and in a warm bath work the applicator gently into the opening. You may get a tiny pinch or pain, and there might be a little blood - that's okay, it would happen with your first sexual experience anyway.

All tampons are the same size when they are inside the plastic or cardboard applicator. Where the size differs is the absorbancy of the cotton. If you are just beginning to use tampons, start with one that has a plastic applicator. I have found that the best ones currently on the market are the Tampax Pearl (Plastic). They are available in a variety of absorbancies.
Please know, that you will need to relax!! It helps to read the instructions contained in the box. Take your time! After a few times, you will get the hang of it!!
I hope that this helps!

Either you're not inserting it all way in or you're still a virgin and haven't broken your membrane that makes you a virgin. All you have to do is put one leg on the edge of the stool or squat your knees a little bit insert tampon until your fingers touch your skin. Push the tube in for insertion. Now if you don't do this it may feel uncomfortable when you sit down. It may feel like something is poking you or in the way. That means you haven't inserted it deep enough and it sitting in the passage of your vagina. I hope this helped. I had a friend with the same problem and I told her same thing and she's been wearing them every since. Good Luck!!!

Exactly as everyone else has said you DO need to relax otherwise it'll be painful and will sting. Also, you need to match the tampon absorbency to your flow - meaning if you are nearing the end of your period and you're using a super tampon instead of a regular or small, it's bound to make your eyes water! Use mini's for the light days and if you are only spotting, probably best to use a panty-liner.

It should not be hard. You need to relax, and just let it slide in. Also, you may just need a smaller size.
What position are you in when you try to insert it? Are you on the toilet with your legs spread, or standing with one leg up on the tub?
If it is still a problem, try putting a little vasiline around the edges of it, this will help it slide easier once it is inside you.

One is because maybe its too big for you, try a smaller one, use one with a plastic applicator they seem to go in easier, also be sure you are sitting with yourself "opened" up good so that you are able to in sert it easier and be sure to get it in all the way or it will be painful, and being dry can cause it to be harder to

It's not that hard. Just make sure you're in a squatting position or sitting on the toilet bowl and then insert it in. Put it in only when you're having your period.

It's really not. Just relax and follow your 'natural curve'. Aim for the small of your back, not your tummy. It sometimes takes a little practice.
The biggest thing is to relax.

Your insides might be tilted alittle bit so it isn't going in straight (or I mean it needs to go in crooked if you're tilted)
also put a dab of vaseline on the end.
