I have not read the other answers you have recieved as I am pretty sure that I would disagree with them all. If you read or listen to people who believe that God is perfect in every way and is compassionate, caring, loving and would never harm you and then in the same breath ask why God let certain things happen you have answered your own question.
We are taught from birth to follow the teachings of our priests and the Bible. The real problem here is that religions are creations of man to suit the needs as they arise. The first true religion was Peganism predating the written word. Unfortunatly, it has been depicted as devil worship and evil in the media and by most christian sects.
In Peganism there is no Devil and there are many Gods and Godesses. Most religions have taken Pegan ideas and formed them into there own rituals. Mormans have blessings called the laying on of hands. Pegans were doing this long before Joseph Smith came along only they call it Healings. Catholics don't believe in blessings but bless the communion with words. Pegans call this a spell.
Yes, God does exist and he will break the rules. Sometimes it is for the best as it is when a parent has to for the safety of their own child.
I am sorry that I made this long winded and I hope that you find what you are looking for.

God is the law, God is everything good therefore he can't disobey himself. Just like you can't break the laws of gravity and natures laws because you are part of nature.

This question is actually answered in Hinduism. Hindus believe God is the Paramatma (Supreme Soul) with whom all our souls re-unite in the end. The soul as we know in all Religions is not an actor. Since it is not an actor, there is no question of the Supreme soul performing action to break Karmic laws.

The Karmic laws are independant of all. In other words all of us have to face the consequences of our own actions while God can only have mercy in reducing our karmic burden or postpone it to the next life. (Otherwise we will keep committing sins and just keep confessing). It is not God who punishes us, because he loves us all equally, it is just the consequences of our actions either in the present life or the past coming back to us in some other form.

So to answer this question, let us take a human incarnation of God where he can perform action to see what happens when he disobeys Karmic Laws. Krishna was involved in the Mahabharatha War between the Pandavas and the Kauravas (Cousins) and he agreed to help the Pandavas (on whose side virtue lay) as a Charioteer. But he would not fight himself. In the war all the Kauravas were eventually killed.

During the funeral, the mother of the Kauravas cursed Krishna saying as an all powerful being, he could have stopped the whole war. Why didn't he stop it? Why didn't he leave even one son to take care of the blind and old parents? Haven't you failed in your duty to protect the wives and children of all the slain warriors? So I will curse you, 36 years from now your entire clan will fight within themselves and kill each other just like this war between cousins. You will wander alone and destitute just like these widows and mothers and ultimately your death will be at the hands of a lowly hunter.

Krishna smiled and said, you are so quick to place the blame on others especially God for your own failures in your duty. If as a mother you had raised your children properly, would they have been so evil and caused so much evil? What effort did you make to stop your son when he tried to strip another's wife naked in front of all? wasn't it I who ensured she would not be disrobed? Now you blame me for your own failings as a parent? Everyone has free will and the sins in this world are caused by humans who also suffer its consequences. The purpose of this incarnation was to rid the earth of this evil and that is what I did without raising a weapon in anger.

However I will accept your curse because the purpose of this incarnation has come to an end and you have been a virtuous wife to your blind husband and you took the vow to blindfold yourself all your life just for him. I will bow to your power of love.

After 36 years the Yadava clan killed each other in drunken infighting and Krishna's Human body was slain when resting by a hunter who mistook his feet for a deer.

Do you get a ticket for disobeying the law of Gravity?

It can't happen, any more than I can violate my own will. If I eat a cookie when I'm on a diet, I made a conscience choice to do so, so in effect I changed my mind, or changed my self imposed law. God apparently could change his/her mind since we have an old and new testament.

Just FYI, he doesn't exist.

I don't believe in God, but I'll humor you.... If there is a God, sadly he is omnipotent and all-powerful, so I guess there isn't a system of checks and balances set up in heaven to make sure he acts accordingly. I guess the answer is: nothing happens. Even if those who believe in him were to call him out on it, he'd probably just say: "Do as I say, not as I do."

God would not disobey his own laws, then he would be a hypocrite. We would also not call him holy and would have to give mercy like he has done on us.

well, we dont know what laws God has made to apply to God, we dont know if God has a higher being that has applied laws,,,,,, if your referring to the laws that some view as Gods laws for them, most who believe that view God as a father, and we all know, child rules do not apply to adults
