If stem cell research proves successful will the results positvely or negatively affect drug profitability. Will the effect be to lessen the need for chronic drug therapy? Do the drug companies lobby for or against embrionic stem cell research?

Doubtful, their marketing department will find ways to advertise or market research will have the other drugs needed waiting. It's become a huge industry and all you see on TV is their advertising. Legalized drug pushers. Like Xanax, it was advertised by physicians as non addictive drug, to reduce the use of Valium, Xanax is the world's Number 1 selling drug and to kick it, it takes another drug, but when Americans got hooked, the FDA banned it, but you can buy it legally in England only. Seems pretty clear to me.

I think we can safely say that the drug company's are definitely against any kind of cure for any chronic disease. Their profits would plummet, no more maintaining drugs. I think that is why that the repuglicans are so against it as they are being paid off by the drug company's and it has nothing to do with morality, I have never meant a moral repuglican.

I think you will find that most of the start up money for businesses engaged in stem cell research, at least in Silicone Valley, is coming from the big pharmaceuticals.

They will find a way to take their "pound of flesh" no matter who does the research.
