That's an interesting question. It reminds me of a statement/command I read a long time ago. It said:
"Find out who you really are."
The journey of finding out who you are can be a difficult one. Even for those who have not experienced head trauma. I think the reason for this is the fact that there are a variety of ways to define/describe "who" you are.
You are a "Human."
You are an "American."
You are an "Adult."
You are a "Caucasian."
You are a "Man."
You are a "Father."
You are an "Uncle".
You are a "Confused Individual."
You are an "Intelligent Person."
In short, you are a conglomerate of things. You have a multitude of personality traits. And, you play various roles in society. Basically... YOU ARE YOU... whatever "you" is.
You find out who you are by LOOKING at others, and COMPARING one person to another, until you miraculously DISCOVER things about yourself.

If that did happen, they'd form a new personality just like they did the first time around. When we're born, and are growing up, our experiences and teachings shape us into the people that we are. Depending on what happens to the person for a while after the trauma, they'd create ideals and thoughts based on that and that would create the new person.

Evrerything is not whiped out with trauma...someone may forget who the people around them are but will remember how to play the piano. They may forget that they like to paint but still have their old synical personality. It just depends on where the damage is. Cases have even occured where folks can not tell someone how to do a task but can still do the task.

A trauma wouln't wipe out your personality just your memories. They would still be the same person just starting over again.

These types of cases are so rare they are almost unique...amnesia is to a degree I believe...if someone completely forgets who they are it takes time to regain memory...bit by bit memories will surface and one would remember their lives...to my knowledge amnesia can be caused by concussion...
