Hi there...
Yes, as stated above...it could be pink eye, but probably just a blocked tear duct (which can happen from even just a cold, etc)
I have twins, and one just had pink eye....it is highly contagious but luckily my other did not get it..
They also getted blocked tear ducts, which I think you more than likely have....b/c if it was pink eye it would be RED.....I get a warm washcloth and massage the inner eye, not so much that it irritates it, but more "white stuff" will probably come out and will clear up.....it used to happen more frequently.
I would talk to your dr about it, its pretty common but in rare cases it could need minor surgery.
Good luck :)

~~~oops I wanted to add something, when you are wiping the eye make sure you wipe from the inside out in a "sweeping" like motion, and do not use the same part of the wash cloth....even if it is just a blocked tear duct, the eye is very sensitive to infection~~~~~
You should definitely talk to your pediatrician, however this sounds like what 2 out of 3 of my boys had which is a plugged tear duct. If this is what your pediatrician says then it's not an infection and the condition clears up within months (or less). I was panicked because of the discharge and in the morning their poor little eyes would be crusted close. I was advised by the doctor to do a particular massage and wipe with a warm wash cloth, but definitely find out first f this is conjunctivitis. Wash hands and be sure not to irritate by wiping too much until your doctor diagnoses this properly. Good luck and stay calm.
It means he's got an infection of some sort, when they are that age that's where it comes out... more then likely it's a sinus or ear infection. I'd call your doctor's office, all offices have doctors on call, since tomorrow is Turkey day you'd have to wait till Friday to try and get in, but they may be able to call in an antibiotic. When it comes to infections you don't want to wait it will just get worse
Yeah, it is probably pink eye. Especially if he's in daycare, or around other children. Call doctor soon, because it can move to other places...it's a bacterial infection.
Conjunctivitis...Call the doctor ASAP. If not treated, it can cause a sever infection.
