I've had 6 children, and I've eaten deli meat with all of them. I'm not sure when they started advising against it because I was never warned. My youngest is 2 and my oldest is 14. So far, outside of allergies they don't seem to have any problems.

If it is good quality deli meat, not processed stuff like balogna or cottl salami, go ahead and eat your sandwich. Not eating all day is NOT a good thing. Carry apples, bananas, yogurt, cereal/granola bars with you so you won't be so hungry. I have been through 3 pregnancies and don't remember anyone ever telling me to eat more protein -- just stay will a really balanced diet -- you know the 4 food groups we are learned about in Health class in high school. lol

I've eaten the prepackaged stuff my whole pregnancy. I think it's more of a precaution because any meat that isn't hot all the way through when you eat it can carry bacteria.

To get extra protein I ate peanut butter on toast almost everyday. My OB recommended it for a quick high protein snack...also cheese and crackers.

Also while eating too much tuna can be bad, due to mercury you are allowed one-two servings of it a week while pregnant.

If it is the prepacked stuff, it has been fully cooked and pasturized so it is safe to eat. Deli meats refers to meats found in a deli or deli section of the supermarket sitting under a light all day. If you are worried, heat it in the microwave until is steams.

You can get protein in soy, nuts, milk and milk products like cheese and yogurt.

Please don't deprive you and your baby of nutrition. If you don't eat enough, your bones will become brittle and you can even lose teeth. Be smart.

i have read that pre packaged deli meat is ok. it is because the over the counter stuff sits in open air it is not recommended. also nuts are a good source of protein and dried fruit snacks can be a good pick up. hope this helps.

You are suppose to heat it up. Maybe you can do it before school or heat up the whole package so it's ready to go. To be honest I ate at Subway like 100 or more times well I was pregnant sandwiches ranging from Turkey to Tuna. If you don't eat it alot you should be fine.If you have concerns talk to you Doctor

I am a fairly experienced father. Deli meat? That sounds like a load, I think you'll be fine. However, this might sound funny, but slimfast is packed with all sorts of good stuff. You may wanna check it out.

Have a little fun baby can party in your tummy. no tuna. Don't eat bad stuff that much. Everything in moderation. My mom ate an egg every day. They say that's really good for the baby.
Good Luck!

I would eat the packaged meat, infact i am pregnant and I do eat it. I find it hard to find foods that I CAN eat, that i feel like eating and I have time to cook.
