I really want to travel, but I'll have do it alone because no I know is really willing to put forth the time and money. I was wondering if it's better to get a travel package with a tour, or maybe just go alone and stay in a hostel.

i went on with a tour group to europe (i'm a young-ish single american girl) and loved it.

i was apprehensive about having a strict schedule but the truth is i wouldn't've seen as much as i did without it. the first part was with the tour and usually had the balance of the time on my own so it worked out great. it was also nice because they pick you up from the airport and take your luggage inbetween where you're staying/transferring and the tourguide can help you figure where to exchange monies for the best rate and stuff.

i recommend it.

Well, it is depends on where you want to go. If just a shopping trip you can always travel alone & make sure you find a hotel/hostel close to the destinations.

If you thought of visinting the attactions in a particular country or states....it is always better to book through the travel agent.

Book a travel package with the tour agent will be cheaper and safer. Cause they always have agencies discounts on flights, hotels & etc. And they always have a better knowledge about the places that you going to visit.... :)

Advantage :
- Transport, hotel, flights & a tour guide are usually included in the package, where meals & enterance fee to the attractions might be included as well.
- You can make friend with the other travellers & it is safer when you travel with a group of people (especially girl).
- Most important "Hasle free!!". When you travel on your own, you have to do a lots of reserch on where to stay, how to get there, weather, study the custom rules & have to do the bookings in months ahead in order to get it cheap and ensure the availablity.

Disavantage :
- You may need to wait for others, cause you are not travelling alone.
- The time of visiting the attractions might be limited.

This is all base on my own experience.

Enjoy!!

I can so relate to what you are saying. I am 50ish divorced female that loves to travel.

There are sooooo many places that I want to see & do. My daughter travels with me on some occasions, my sis on some - but our tastes vary greatly!

I like adventure. I had missed out on many places I wanted to see because they didn't like the choice. And that's fine. Why spend money on something you don't really want to do?

So, last year - I went alone on a journey I had wanted to do for 30 years. There were about 20 people and 3 tour guides. I was the sole single traveler. That was ok, and I'm glad I did it (it wasn't something I could have have just did all alone). But it would have been sooo much more fun to have a partner - someone to remember the trip with.

But - I do not intend to miss out on future adventures because of being alone. I will still go.

I think you'd have much more fun on a tour than you would alone! You'd have company and you can meet some really great people that way.
