Well, yes, it makes us as stupid as he is because we chose him as our leader TWICE.
I think they were willing to cut us some slack after 2000, but 2004? How does that saying go?
"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again."
EDIT: To tony w, the questioner doesn't call America "our ELITE nation", he refers to the rest of Amercians as "our ENTIRE nation."
There's some kind of Freudian thing going on there, I think.

People outside the US do not soley judge the US by the President. But as your highest 'elected' official, he is what you as Americans have put out as your primary representitive to the world. There are many other ways that people judge the US, but a lot of them ultimately relate back to either the President of the govt more generally.
Calling America 'our elite country' does not help your cause either.

Unfortunately, George W. was elected--no matter what rules were broken with hanging chads, etc.,--and fortunately, we Democrats have taken back congress. The entire world, however, knows just as much, if not more, than most Americans about our politics. I do fear that we, as individuals, are hated because of our President, but I sincerely hope that that is not the case. Please vote for the Democrats in the upcoming election. It's our best hope!

Because it takes about 58 million votes to get the guy in!
That's more than the population of just about every country that criticizes us.
Yeah, I know there's an electoral system, but its the voter numbers that make the headlines.
By the way, we've settled the stupidity thing. George Bush has an IQ of almost 130, he just likes to hide it to the dismay of many.

Well unfortunately he does represent us. There are also people who still support him and think he is a good President. Hopefully will this past election and when we get a Democrat in the Presidents office it will show the world that we arent evil war mongerers.

they judge us because our president is elected... and ultimately when you elect someone, you try to vote for the guy that best represents your view on things... therefore, since we have an arrogant, dimwit as president, the rest of the world thinks we're just as arrogant and stupid... so it's understandable (and humiliating) to me why the rest of the world may not like us that well...

Cause enough people voted for him to be our president for 2 terms so they think that we all like him.
