With Julio Lugo probably going to sign and play center will the cubs deal Jones? I think that Jones may be traded for Ervin Santana because they would have to many outfielders.

Santana: 16-8 4.28 era
Jones: .285 27hr 81 rbi
The cubs need pitching but the Angels outfield maybe full so possibly Jones for Figgins. Which one seems more likely to happen?
Figgins could be a bench utility player for some of the day games.

i don't see santana for jones since the angels just signed matthews jr. earlier today to play center, plus pitching is worth more than hitting. figgins maybe but i would rather keep figgins than trade for jones, i think the angels might try to do something big, a big time hitter to protect vladimir guerrero

Anything the Cubs can get for Jones is a plus. Not real sure Lugo will outhit Jones. Niether are much with a bat any more. As for the Angels they have Mathews. The Cubs need to wait till around the all star break when the Angels finally force Mathews on the DL to prevent the embarrasment of benching their high dollar free agent signing for lack of production.

The Cubs desperately need pitching like so many other teams. I'd say best to ship Jones for pitching prospects. Nobody is going to give up an established pitcher for an outfielder clearly in decline.

The Cubs aren't going to sign Lugo, he will be on the BoSox. And as for Jones, I would be happy if the Cubs acquired a batting practice coach for him. The Angels would have to be stupid to give away a young pitcher with high potential for such a player as Jones.

Ervin Santana? Ha. You wish. He's a highly touted prospect. Santana is a likely trade candidate, but not for a lower-tier player like Jacque Jones. He likely goes to Tampa Bay in a Carl Crawford deal.

A young starting pitcher is worth much more than an aging hitter.
This will only happen in the dreams of a Cubs fan. Sorry.

It won't happen, like you said the Angels already have 4 outfielders. Also Figgins is not a bench player, he is a starter.

I don't see the Cubs trading Jones to the Angels.

the angels would need more out of that deal, pitching is far more valuable than hitting.

take santana, throw in a bullpen arm (which the angels have plenty off) and maybe another guy and they could get Tejada, Manny Rameriz or Vernon Wells..
