Just tell her that you make the average wage for your profession and tell her if she wants to know what she should be making, to do some research on the internet.

Yahoo jobs has a Salary Centre that lays out average earnings for most professions.

A persons finances are not really anybody elses buisness, you shouldnt have to tell anyone what you make, be it a little or alot. If anyone asks just tell them thats personal and they should understand.

Tell her that you don't feel comfortable discussing money because you don't want money to ever be part of your friendship.

You will need to be very direct and very firm.

"I'm sorry Mary, but salary is a very personal issue with me and I don't feel comfortable disclosing it, thanks for understanding."

Peace.
