I think the kids are way to young to be treated that harsh. They need to wait a couple years before they try that.

I agree it is kinda harsh but it is also a sign of the times. Everyone wears their opinions, feelings and politics on their sleeves now and we much consider the 'feelings' of the other races and cultures to keep from offending them. I will never understand why we have to make such a big deal about race. If you think about everyone ranting about Color, Religion and such they never consider that the entire United States land actually belong to the Native Americans. If they complained like everyone else does about discrimination we may just have a big problem ( ike getting off their land).
Teachers should let kids be kids and stop pushing grownup views on them.
Great question!! You got my thumbs up ;)

No, that is not too harsh. One thing that young children understand perfectly well is universal truth. Stealing, killing, lying, etc is bad. They don't have to be taught that.

Lying to them about the Pilgrims to go along with an idealized status quo is much harsher than telling them the truth. The Indians only welcomed them because earlier immigrants had wiped out 90% of them through disease and they needed allies.

Truth is truth, no matter how you tell it. The same goes for a lie.
