Nothing gets automatically deleted from your record over time, not even misdemeanors. You need to apply to have your record expunged, or if juvenile cases, to have the juvenile records sealed. The fact that a person does not have any other criminal history will increase the likelihood of the court expunging the record.

Less serious crimes are called misdemeanors. Offenses that are less serious than misdemeanors are called violations and are not considered crimes.

If you're arrested for a misdemeanor, violation, or certain low grade felonies, the police can, under certain circumstances, give you a "desk appearance ticket" which is like a summons. Instead of going through the booking process and being held in jail until you're brought before a judge for arraignment, you're released from custody and given a date to appear in court to be arraigned.

Penalties for misdemeanors and violations are not as serious as for felonies, but it WILL stay on your record for life.

it is going to stay on your checklist perpetually. the sole exception is that in case you hire a attorney and attempt to get it bumped off. this could be possible in case you have by no ability been arrested for all those 8 years, and have minimum police interplay. As on your new activity, fess up. do no longer lie approximately it, because of the fact regardless of in case you get the cost bumped off you will consistently have a reserving image. this is extra useful to tell the certainty, and tell them you have long previous 8 years without incident. clarify what occurred. A misd. value shouldn't consequence you that plenty in getting the activity.

Grave offenses stay in the record for life but simple crimes can be expunged after the required period of time.
