You must have a bachelor's degree which will take you 3.5 years if you take a ton of hours and summer school, or more likely, 4 years. Then law school is 3 years, you go to school in the fall and the spring. In the summertime, most students in law school try to get internships and pick up some experience and references.

In the US, it's usually three years after an undergraduate degree (BA or BS), then the Bar exam. In addition, each lawyer must participate in continuing legal education in most States, usually about 12 hours per year.

All law schools are not relatively equal. My firm hires based upon quality of law school, grades and personality.
