mosquitoes are a large part of many food chains: If they were taken away from the environment, many animals who the mosquito is a primary source of food for--like bats, frogs and dragonflies--would die out, causing other animals who eat those others--owls, herons, and again frogs-- to suffer to. Some of the food chains are connected to us humans as well, so we might even be affected by these effects. without mosquitoes, or any part of the food chain was take away, the entire ecosystem willl collapse.

Mosquitos, like many insects, act as a bridge within the ecological foodchain. Their main purpose is to provide a ready supply of nourishment for animals/insects/fish that would otherwise have to compete over a smaller pool of resources. In addition, their ability to exchange microscopic organisms with their host, via blood, allows the host a way in which to strengthen their immune systems. This also weeds out weakened specimens among the population, ensuring that the animals with the strongest resistence to the mosquitos (and their diseases) survive.

None. Why can't these guys go extinct? Species that feed on the mosquito would find other food or die out too.
And, no, this would not cause the entire ecosystem to crash. This has happened many times over the ages. Many times more species have gone extinct than are presently with us so there goes that myth.
