Benjamin Franklin once said "Those who are willing to sacrifice liberty for temporary security deserves neither liberty nor security."

A country that has state-wide police force is a police state, the difference is only how big the police force is.
The USA isn't currently turning into a police state, it is already a police state.
It should be noted it's the Proles that drinks, uses drugs, has unusual sexual interests, and so on. They are free because they never go against the Party.
It's the Inner and Outer Party members that were scared on doing those things, since that they don't want to get in trouble with the Party.
The Party are able to control their members because they taught them that they will be protected from evil things by fighting evil things.
Jesus said, do not resist evil. The Party is a giant resistance group who resist evil.
The Party members are rebels/freedom fighters, the Proles are not.

Any form of government is, essentially, going to create an opportunity for advantages to be gained. Likewise, the creation of any sort of armed force, in whatever guise, has the potential to be appropriated by whoever is in charge. That being said, China is alot closer to being a 'police state' than the United States. Saudi Arabia is also alot closer to being a police state (especially for women) than the United States. Of course, a non-white citizen could argue that the U.S. very much represents a police-state, but the question of 'equality' and 'freedom' has always been about the process of becoming, not the state of being. The only good thing is that if America is slowly becoming a police-state, then history demonstrates that America doesn't have to remain tied to its mistakes.

Welcome aboard the libertarian mindset. The country has devolved into class warfare. We have the media and the politicians doing their best to create racial and ethnic hatred. Politically we have been told our only choices are Socialist Party "A" and Socialist Party "B". It took me to age 40 to realize that I am a man without a country. My thoughts now are to do whatever I can (financially and physically) to at least insulate me and my kids from all this foolishness.
The media and academia seem to feel that we should be better served by watching "Dancing with the Stars" or concern ourselves with who is now dating who in La La Land.

A carbon monoxide induced sleep is painless.
I think it's so stupid that people allow their privacy to be invaded because they "have nothing to hide." That is NOT the point! The point is that they're going to take everything out from under us and THEN people are going to wonder how it happened.
