Under marriage & divorce - we can only assume you cheated. It will probably go away in time...who knows how long...only you can say. Hey, it happened for a reason...maybe he did something unkind to push you into it? It may not have been all your fault?
Don't tell your hubby, that will only make matter worse and then he can bring it up years from now during an argument. Confessing to him may make you feel better, but it will definately make him feel worse. Short term it may work...long term it sucks.
The good new is that the guilt will fade away a little more each day. If you really need to share this with someone, then go to a church and share it with God. Good luck.

Depends on for what reason you feel guilt. If you commited a horrendous crime, I hope your guilt never fades. If you have cheated on a husband/bf well I hope you learned a valuable lesson. If you took money from a friend I hope you remember that money can come and go but friends are a lifetime. For whatever you did hopefully the guilt is a lesson and finally learn to let it go. Otherwise it will eat you up inside. Let it go....

This question was under "marriage and divorce." You need to ask for your partner's forgiveness in what went wrong (even if it was mostly the other person's fault, you are still responsible for at least 1% of it) and then forgive yourself. How long does guilt take to go away? It all depends on you and the situation. Might take you a few months, a year? Good luck.

guess it depends on how bad the guilt is and the type of person carrying the guilt, time is a great healer and it will fade but dont think you can put a length of time on it

Guilt over what...stealing a grape or two in the grocery or cheating on your spouse.
Asking for forgiveness from the injured party will make it easier to let go of guilt.

In psychology and ordinary language, guilt is an affective state in which one experiences conflict at having done something one believes one should not have done (or, conversely, not having done something one believes one should have done). It gives rise to a feeling that does not go away easily, driven by conscience.
Guilt can sometimes be remedied by punishment, by forgiveness, or by sincere remorse.

when you've fixed the problem that caused the guilt to come in the first place, your guilt will be gone.

That depends on you, what did you do to feel guilty? It is up to you to make amends and move on.If you make it right, you should get over it pretty quickly. If you do not choose to address the infraction it will eat away at you until you do.Assuming of course that you care about the person you betrayed. It is totally up to you.

Guilt doesn't fade away, it eats you alive...that is, if you let it consume you!
