It's a bit older, but BET ME by Jennifer Crusie is a hilarious book full of colorful, realistic characters, a simple (yet ingenious storyline), and some great dialogue.

I just finished the Memory Keeper's Daughter...very good. I'm currently reading Jane Austen Book Club...so far, so good.
Are the a lot of Vampire books out there? Perhaps the stores were just pushing them during the Halloween season. The only ones I have read are a couple of Anne Rice's books, and I don't even think she writes them anymore since she converted to Christianity.
For fun? I'll read anything that's put in front of me. I've been known to sit and read through cereal boxes during breakfast because that's all that was there at the table.

There can never be too many vampire books! It adds such an amazing dimension to any character/relationship.

The best chick lit book ever is twilight by Stephenie Meyer. Period.

Although hardly a "chick" I'd recommend "The Thirteenth Tale" by Diane Setterfield.
THE TIMES said: "Beautifully written and highly intelligent. Blissful escapism for literate (and literary) females who love an old-fashioned story."

In Her Shoes by Jennifer Weiner is very good. It's a good movie too.

The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger is a great book too.
