It's when you blow up babies. Baby BOOM!!! LOL!
No. The Baby Boom started when all the Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, etc. that went to WWII came home and started families. The major years of the Boom were 1946 (they worked fast) until around 1955. The boom continued at a slower rate for a number of years after too. Probably do to the Korean War. To say it continued until 1965 is not really correct. I think it's because a bunch of late comers wanted to be included in our generation. Sorry all you Johnny come latelys. You gotta find your own identity. LOL!
Where did it happen? In millions of bedrooms around our country. :o) I know it happened in the U.S. (there are 100 million or more of us.) but I'm pretty sure there was a Baby Boom in the U.K., France, Belgium and most of the other countries involved in that war.
I'm afraid we won't be going away for quite some time yet either. So, you of the next couple generations are just gonna have to wait your turn. Let's just hope that my generation will get some stuff straightened out so you or your kids won't have as much work to do.

the baby boom was the advent of many many more kids being bore in the forties it happened all over the world during and after WWII it happened because many of the returning serve men from every natin decided that since they lived thru the war then was a good time to start a family which was expected of a couple when they got married back then, The soldiers also had the GI bill to help pay for school to get an education to get better jobs so families seem to fit right in with that situation

The 'baby boom' refers to the large number of children that were born, in the USA, after World War II - from 1945 to 1964.
Before the war, the USA was in a depression and people did not want to support large families because it was a financial struggle.
During the war, people were separated and focused on the fighting overseas, so there were not as many children born either.
After the war, when the soldiers returned home and we were out of the economic depression, many people then did decided to have families and many children were born. Also, since so many people had died during the war, it was encouraged to increase our population more. The war veterans also had financial benefits such as the GI Bill, which encouraged good educations for good paying jobs which could then support larger families, too.

The baby boom was the result of the end of the second world war. There were many babies born following the end of the war, as men returned home to their wives. Young soldiers and their wives began having families. 1964 is considered to be the last year of the boom, so it was a period of approx 18 years.

The baby boom is a North America phenomena caused by a huge increase in the numbers of storks, starting in the late 1930, and continuiung on into the 1940s. It takes five years for a stork to mature. As more and more material was poured into the European war effort, and many thousands of young men went off to shed blood in this war, the numbers of guns left to kill the storks diminished. As the storks population was left to grow and expand across North America, they were able to deliver many more babies, thus creating the "boom" in babies. After the European war the gun industry was able to convert their factories back into hunting rifles and the killing and culling of the stork overpopulation was taken up with enthusiasm by the numerous, surplus killing machines which war created, and the boom quickly decreased.

The baby boom refers to when the soldiers who fought in WWII finally came home to their loved ones after years of fighting and being apart. Basically they had a lot of sex when they got back, which is why so many babies were born..haha
