Pregnancy happens when a man and a woman have sexual intercourse without using birth control and during her peak fertile period-right before ovulation.

Sexual intercourse is when a man puts his penis inside the woman's vagina and ejaculates.

Ovulation is when a woman releases an egg. Ejaculation is when a man releases his sperm.

The sperm travel up into the uterus and into the fallopian tubes and wait until the egg comes along. The sperm can wait inside the tubes for up to five days but the egg only lives for 24 hours and needs to be fertilized at a certain place in the fallopian tube.

Ovulation occurs at different times for each woman but an average is 14 days before the onset of the next menstruation (period).

After the sperm and egg meet, the fertalized egg or zygote travels back down the fallopian tube and into the uterus. This process takes anywhere from 6-12 days. When the egg falls into the uterus, it sticks to the side of the uterine wall where it implants into the endometrium and starts to form blood vessels to connect itself to the mother. These blood vessels (chorionic villi) transport nutrition from the mother to the embryo and waste products from the embryo to the mother. The embryo also transfers the hormone hcg (human chorionic gonadatrophin) to tell the mothers brain to produce progesterone and prevent the shedding of the endometrium (period).

Pregnancy tests look for hcg in the mothers urine. People who are pregnant will have alot of this hormone in their bodies and it doubles every two to three days.

I hope this answered your question. I am hoping you are too young to have learned this in school, otherwise I fear that our public education system is in dire straights or your parents have psychological problems and for some unknown reason don't want you to know. Perhaps you just wanted the dirty version, which as you can see, I did not provide.

The down and dirty of it is when a man's sperm enters a woman's vagina and swims up the fallopian tube to fertilze an egg.

I mean, sex.
