okay i have a membership with columbia. when you first begin you get to order like 5 movies for 49 cents each. When i first started it was great cheap movies then you receive points for buying the most amount of movies. with the points you get you use toward your next purchase and they act as dollars and sometimes you get a movie for free. the only thing i don't like about columbia house every month they give you a director cut of a new movie they select and if you don't like it you have to send it back and then they charge you and then you have to keep cancelling if you don't want it. it alot of hassle more trouble then it is worth. I have cancelled my membership this year and actually went with netflix or just have been buying my dvd's at target for a cheap price. the club looks great and cheap at first but it's better not join at all because its just a hassle to deal with.

Netflix is okay if you thought of renting dvds, but blockbuster online is better. You get free in store rentals and all that. As far as buying DVDs from Columbia House... my room-mate did that and she gets DVDs sent to her from them that she would never watch and she has to send back or she's billed... they want you to buy a certain number of DVDs in the first year.

Like any other club like this...they hook you in with cheap DVD's and then you're obligated to buy 2, 3, or 4 at regular club prices (which are generally higher than at stores). They also get you on shipping charges. Their selection generally isn't as good as you find in some stores or searching the internet.

No - you're the only one - you should feel special and unique! As to getting the money back - if it's a matter of principle, since this would cost more than the amount they should refund to you, you could hire the "Blackwater" group and do a commando raid on the Columbia House Compound and exact your revenge!
