Normally I do it the day after Thanksgiving as a family thing, but we just bought our first tree since we've been married and we put it up early because we were so excited! I think Christmas decorating should occur when you feel like putting it up, but mostly after Thanksgiving so when you have people over for Thanksgiving dinner they feel like it's Thanksgiving, not Christmas yet.

Ideally I would like to start right after Halloween only because it gives me time to do it at a nice pace and not get rushed. I never do it that early however. I started last week and have just been getting stuff out as I have time. We will probably get it all done this weekend while everyone is off from work and out of school.

If you have thanksgiving at your house, you should do it after dinner as a family. It will be heartwarming, and good quality time. Makes a great family tradition.

I work in downtown Houston...they've already put up lights and a huge Christmas tree...it looks very nice :) You should start putting up your stuff already =)
