I think the gay community is a shelter for many straight women who are afraid of sexuality in general. They feel safe around gay males. It is really that simple. Just like fish on the coral reef, we all seek safety where we can find it.

I really wouldn't think it said anything of her sexuality because she hangs out in the male gay community. I don't know where that phrase about a woman being a "gay hag" came from but I hear it a lot. I guess its better than being called a spinster.
Her sexuality MIGHT be affected if she were actually sleeping with these gay men; otherwise, she's just a single woman who likes the company of men she doesn't feel pressure from. If she were to hang out with heterosexuals, she would get another title that was not so flattering.

Actually it says nothing about her sexuality. I know of a woman who is of age and who is not married. She hangs around with her male gay friends most of the time because it's more dynamic and deep.
Friendships should not be classified according to gender or sexuality. As long as in your circle of friends, you respect, love and care for eachother then you are in the right track.
You must admit, that the lives of gay people are more appelaing than those of straights. My life as a gay man is as colorful as the rainbow with tins of drama... and i guess thats what inspires most women. . . stories of overcoming hardships, diversity, pain and getting the strength to stand up and to be who you are.

well I am a married woman and most of my friends are gay males. I love going clubbing with them and so does my hubby. Before I married though it was great having the male companionship without any strings attached I could get drunk and get home safely without eaking up next to someone I didnt know. I loved it and still do

Psychologically, I'd have to say she has rejected her feminine nature because of the pain and shame skeletons in her closet. They embrace the feminine in a fun, flippant and non-threatening way so she can be more girly by association and yet maintain an above-it-all distance from it. There's some serious issues she's not addressing.

If most of this woman's friends is gay the men may be asking her for advice to help them live a more femininely gay life, In exchange for her advice the gay men will buy this woman cloths, makeup, shoes etc.
