In the mid 80's there was a movie about this guy that went to heaven. He meets this pure soul and falls in love with her. One day he tries to meet up with her and finds out that she was sent to earth. Now that this guy was dead he wants nothing more but to be with her.
So he talks to an angel and makes a deal, he has 30 years to find her or he will forget about her or something bad happens to him. (cant remember which one).
On his 30th birthday the Angel he makes the deal with is like 'Happy Brithday Milo' as he turns around he sees the girl.
I was like 13 years old when when I saw this movie on TV, so I dont remember the name and I dont remember any Actors or Actresses that stared in it. Otherwise I'd beable to find it.

Great movie! Made in Heaven is it's name, starting Timothy Hutton, Kelly McGillis, and with small roles, Neil Young, Ric Occasic, and Tom Petty.

The older "Swiss Family Robinson" was made in 1960. A Swiss settler family is shipwrecked on a desert island. Directed by Ken Annakin. Starring John Mills, Dorothy McGuire, James MacArthur. Blue Lagoon (1980) did not have a family, but was made in the general time frame that you indicated. And Paradise Lagoon (1958) is older than you indicated, but it does involve a family stranded on a deserted island in a cooler environment. Set in turn-of-the-20th-century England.
